The tour starts with a visit to Cato Manor the first area from which African’s and Indians where forcibly removed and relocated to “Townships” in the early 1960’s.
Our journey continues a short distance inland where we find the local settlement of Inanda, which is steeped in history and culture. We visit the Ohlange Institute, where President Mandela cast his vote in South Africa’s first democratic elections in 1994; the Phoenix settlement where Mahatma Gandhi developed his philosophy of passive resistance and visit the Inanda Seminary, one of the oldest African private schools for girls, established in 1869. We end the day with a visit to Ebuhleni for a brief introduction to the religious world and the theosophy of the Shembe Church.
